First Belgian crypto stamp: launch Oct. 21, 2024

Crypto stamp

Launching on 21 October 2024

First Belgian crypto stamp

A colorful dragon appears on the very first Belgian crypto stamp. In Chinese astrology, 2024 is the year of the dragon. Austrian designer Lisa Filzi has created a strong and colorful design. The physical postage stamp has a special foil that gives the dragon a rainbow reflection and allows it to come to life. The eye is also reflective, adding an extra touch to the stamp. And with your digital twin, you will definitely have a unique piece in your hands!

A physical stamp and digital twin in 1

A crypto stamp is a paper stamp with a digital twin. You can use the physical stamp to frank your post, or you can keep it for yourself of course. Move the digital twin to your secure crypto wallet.

You will only discover which colour your digital twin is when it has been activated.

Perhaps you still have one of these questions

It is best to remove the crypto stamp from the sheet by carefully loosening the left and right sides of the stamp. See image.

A crypto stamp consists of two parts: a physical stamp with franking value ③WORLD and its digital twin. This new crypto stamp is the first one to be issued in Belgium and the first crypto stamp to be issued by four postal services, in partnership with Austria’s Österreichische Post, PostNL in the Netherlands and Post Luxembourg.

You can use the physical stamp to send mail weighing up to 100g to a ‘rest of the world’ destination.

The digital twin is the ‘virtual’ version of the physical stamp. You can activate it online to start your own digital collection.

The crypto stamp is securely packaged. To open, carefully tear along the perforations at the sides. It’s important to note that you cannot return a crypto stamp once the pack has been opened.

See also the instructions on the pack.

Activate the NFC function on your smartphone. Hold your smartphone close to the crypto stamp to verify that it is genuine. Then scan the QR code to activate the digital twin. Carefully remove the protective foil on the back of the stamp and enter the code printed there, which you need to transfer the digital twin to your wallet.

Code [1] is the stamp ID. Each stamp and its NFT twin has its own unique code [1] linking them together. You can use code [1] to look for your stamp on cryptostamp.com. This can be done on any device – smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. This is the code on the front, the personalisation code.

Code [A] is the stamp activation code. Scanning the QR code on the front of the stamp activates the NFT, revealing the colour. You can also activate the stamp by scanning the NFT chip or searching for Code [1]. In these cases you also need Code [A] for activation. Code [A] is a safety measure to ensure that no one can activate the NFT by scanning the NFC chip in the pack or if they know Code [1].

Code [2] under the security label is a secret 12-word list. You can use it to transfer the NFT to a different wallet. To do so, enter the code on cryptostamp.com or use your wallet app.
